I’ve added a new scans & with translation of Robert Pattinson interviewed by Joy Magazine. Thanks to Tiny Pixy for the translation!

Through a secret side door Robert Pattinson slips into the “Four Seasons”-Hotel in Beverly Hills and greets me with a shy “Hello”. Plaid shirt, black leather jacket, stubbles: the 6’1’’ tall Brit seems like a casual Bohemian and not like the currently very popular superstar. I sense, that he doesn’t like being in the sotlight: now and then his sight is sliding to the ground. But exactely this vulnerability, this insecurity makes his charisma so special.

JOY: When I met you last year, you’ve been a newcomer. But for all that happened you don’t seem to have changed at all. You still seem to be really down to earth and you are still attending your interviews by yourself. Do you forgo entourage?

Robert Pattinson: To have people around you permanently makes me nervous. I neither need a pr-assistant nor an adviser. The more people surround you, the more you get told what to do. I don’t care about other’s opinions most of the time. (laughs) Though I should stop being too self-deprecating and talking too negatively about myself in interviews, otherwise the fans start thinking ‘right, he’s an idiot’” (laughs)

Twilight carried you on top of the Hollywood-Olympus. In what extend did your daily life change because of your fame?

R: I don’t notice that I’m actually a star, most of the time, because I’m working constantly since my break-out. After I finished Twilight we shot New Moon and right now we’re making the third sequel of the vampire-saga, Eclipse. On set it doesn’t matter that I’m popular, I get up at 5 A.M. and when I get home at night I just want to go to bed!

Which sides of fame you don’t like?

R: It’s so bizarre how press lunges at me and how much they report about me. That means for me that I barely can go outside by myself anymore – suddenly I have to hide or I need to plan tricky diversions. I don’t have a problem with getting recognized at the street but girl-hysteria overwhelms me. Dakota Fanning, who plays the evil vampire Jane in New Moon, describes the female enthusiasm like this: “Edward is the ideal man, he’s handsome and he has great hair.” How are you going to comment on this?

R: If it’s only about being attractive and having nice hair, then the conditions seem quite easy, but I don’t know, if I can fulfill them. (laughs)

How are you different from Edward?

R: I have bad hair days as well. (laughs)

How was it to shoot with Kristen again? Are you closer now?

R: I love to be in front of the camera with someone I like this much. She was a great co-star in twilight already. It depends on her performance how authentic Edward is going to be and the other way around. We challenge ourselves.

Is it easy to fall in love on set?

R: Of course you spend a lot of time together – but that doesn’t mean that I fall in love with all my co-stars. Otherwise I had fallen in love with Javier Beltrán when I played Salvador Dali in Little Ashes. (laughs)

The female fans of the saga are crazy about the forbidden love of Edward and Bella. Is there a part of the story men can identify themselves with?

R: In my opinion, New Moon has the most fascinating twist from all four books: because Edward is so undyingly in love with Bella, he’s in constant self-doubt about not being good enough for her. That’s why he’s destroying the relationship. I think every man can identify himself with this, because we are just as mazed when we’re in love!

What does your family in England think about the twilight-hype?

R: I think that they don’t notice it very much. My mom called me recently to tell me that she likes my shirt I’m wearing on a photo. Luckly my parents have been untroubled by paparazzi so far. They are just very nice people, it would be a really boring story anyways. When my sister visited me in L.A. she was shocked how many magazines got covered with my face!

When have you been at home for the last time?

R: Almost a year ago, when I had 3 days off. After that I only saw my parents at the New Moon premiere in November. But we want to be together at Christmas for sure!

In London you’ve been in a band called “Bad Girls”. When are you going to appear on stage for the next time?

R: I’m still writing songs and when I have enough time maybe it can happen. In the past it was just a little hobby but today there would be people who’d listen to me but who’d also criticize me. I’m scared of that!

What is your next project?

R: 2010 I’m shooting a western called “Unbound Captives” with Hugh Jackman in New Mexico. This role is so different to Edward that you cannot compare them to eachother. My father is totally looking forward to that film. He’s more interested in horses than in vampires. (laughs)
